May nenek Masain rest in peace

10 April 2007 (Tue):
I was at the office finishing my boss's reports to be submitted by the end of the week when suddenly I received an sms from dad stating that Nenek is in critical condition.
I tried to call dad and Kevin but cannot be reached.
So, I continued doing my work when Kevin's name appeared on my handphone screen.
I immediately pick up his call and asked him how's nenek is doing.
Kevin replied "Lon, nenek sudah tiada".
I was stunned for a while.
I didn't realize tears rolling down my cheek.
All I can think of all the flashbacks when nenek was still around and took care of us.
I got myself together and continued my work as I need to get all the reports done.
I filled in my leave form as well for my boss.
I was supposed to go to Kundasang the next day to see the chalet's work progress.
After finishing all my reports, I then rushed home and waited for my hubby to come home.

A brief history on Nenek
Nenek's full name is Anastasia Masain Lohinggun.
Fondly known as Ina Zia.
She was born on the 5 September 1919.
She was 88 years old.
She is the second child among 4 siblings namely Mary Moili Lohinggun (deceased), Sebastian Spiji Lohinggun (deceased) and Benjamin Tamin Lohinggun.
She was married to Andrew Justik Joeman and had 3 children.
Unfortunately, She lost all her family (hubby and kids) during late 40's.
She remarried but soon after that her 2nd hubby also passed away.
She then stayed with her brother, Sebastian Spiji (my grandfather).
After my grandfather passed away, she stayed at our house.
She was the one who taught us Kadazan language (though my Kadazan nabati noh).
She took care of us when we were very young.
Her favourite grandnephew is my brother Kevin.
Time flew very fast those days.
In Feb 2000, she was enrolled into the Holy Family Residence in Purak, Papar for proper care. On the 10th April, 2007, she passed away at Papar Hospital at 5pm.
Daddy and Kevin were by her side.
Her funeral took place on the 12 April.
The requiem mass was held at St. Aloysius Church, Limbanak and afterwards the cortege was brought to Limbanak Catholic Cemetery for burial.
May her soul rest in peace.
Amen.
