Albert & Brenda's Wedding Reception

Last night, my cousin, Albert and his wife, Brenda, held their wedding reception at the Promenade Hotel. The event was simple but yet meaningful as two families gathered around and celebrate Albert & Brenda's union in marriage. The event was attended by Bride's relatives and friends as well as Albert's side. The event started off with the couple's procession into the ballroom escorted by Albert's lovely daughter, Atalia Mae. I have taken some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

SUDC 35th Anniversary Dinner

I have to say the event was a blast! Kudos to the organizing committee headed by Puan Hajjah Natrah. The event was held at the Grand Ballroom, Magellan Sutera. The event starts at 6.45pm, so I left the house early. I thought I was early but when I reached Magellan, the parking was FULL! So, I had to park very far and walked at least 1 km to the ballroom. Well at least many people share my fate of walking. Hence, it wasn’t that bad. When I arrived at the said place, the lobby was packed with people. At the registration, each guest was given a door gift (red for ladies and blue for men). I made my way into the ballroom and immediately looked for my table (No. 41).

Yours truly

Mary Chey and Stanley Kuansin

Me and Haji Sulaiman Asri

The event started off with Lina announcing the arrival of Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin, the Minister of Industrial and Development. After the guest of honour arrived, Ms. Lina introduced the emcee for the night, Patrick Teoh. After the guest of honour’s speech, we were enlightened to a video presentation in title Mission Impossible 5. We were wondering what it was until we finally know what the mission was. It was actually the menu for dinner. Blab la blab la….food presentation…then of course, dinner time! I was quite frustrated as the service was bad and the food interval was more than 15 minutes. I gazed at the time, it was already 9:20pm and we only had menu number 3! I was hungry but the waiting killed my appetite. Ah well..boredom came and sms cured it.

Soon after, there was another video presentation. It was about the bread and the sword (something like that as I wasn’t focus). Bla blab la…Johaniff was in the video. Blab la bla…suddenly they appear on the stage…oh…cake cutting ceremony! How creative! Before the cake cutting, each of us were given a cup cake with a candle.

Then, performance by Ning Baizura, Nikki & Yanie. Unfortunately, I wasn’t awed. The introduction made by the two Sabahans girls sorry to say, killed the showmanship. Then, the final performance by Bessie Lin from Taiwan. I managed to shake her hands.

Ning sang a Chinese number with Bessie Lin. Very impressive!

Lucky draw! The moment we all been waiting for! There were 5 prizes given away…Acer Notebook, RM3,800 worth of Tour Package plus flight to any destination, Olympus Digital Camera, Sony Handphone and I forgot the last one. Unfortunately, I have no luck!

Lunch at Grazie, Wawasan Plaza

Just now, Val and I went to try Grazie (an Italian al-fresco restaurant) at Wawasan Plaza. The restaurant is opposite the MAA Building. The restaurant setup is nicely done. Just simple decors with white wall. Val ordered her Spaghetti Bolognese and I tried the Hawaiiana Pizza. It was okay. But I still prefer Little Italy which has the best pizza in town. The set lunch costs us RM 16.90 + 10% Service Charge per person. Beverages not included.

6 weird things about myself

Earlier on, I wasn't sure what to do when someone tagged me. So I just copied whatever Annalaine had in her blogsite without reading the link. Anyway, good hearted Annalaine told me what I did wrong. Thank you Annalaine! Okay, here it goes again.

I have been tagged by Annalaine to post 6 weird things about myself.
  1. I read the newspaper from the Sports Section to the Main News (meaning to say, I read newspaper from the back to the front).
  2. I love using oyster sauce in almost all my cooking.
  3. I don't eat meat but I love meat soup!
  4. I add in vinegar for any dish which is already sour, ie. Tom Yam Soup, Asam Laksa.
  5. I want to lose weight but I love eating.
  6. I have a huge box filled with accessories but it sits in the drawer for many years. Never use any of it but I don't want to give away.
Phew...finally...I didn't know it was that hard. But yeah I managed to finish the list. So, now, it's my turn to tag people. I want to tag these people:

1) Daphne Iking

2) Joyce Siambun

3) Josie Mijol

4) Azlina Abdul Jalil

Good luck!

Poor little girl...Ying Ying

Shearwey Ooi Ying Ying loved to sing, and she was a talented little artist too. The girl, who will be four in three months, did not turn up for classes at her kindergarten in Bandar Baru Air Itam for about three weeks before her death. Her teacher Tan Ee Chin, 45, said Ying Ying’s mother Jess Teh, 28, came to take her daughter home from school on June 18. “She said she was having some problems with her husband and wanted to settle things before letting the girl resume classes. “Jess seemed like a very caring mother. She had been sending Ying Ying to school since June 11. Before that, it was her grandfather who would bring her here. “Jess would always hold her daughter’s hand and walk in with the girl. Ying Ying was the shortest in her class but she was also the cutest, very energetic and talkative,” she said. She added that Ying Ying got along well with her classmates. “It was so hard explaining to them that Ying Ying has left us and will never come back. We will miss her very much,” she said. At the grandparents’ home in Bandar Baru Air Itam, the family refused to answer the door. I am referring to the murder case of 3 years old, Shearwey Ooi Ying Ying (pic), whose charred remains were scattered in 3 different locations.

The mother, Jess Teh (28 years old) was remanded by the police together with her 29 years old boyfriend. It is believed that last Friday, Jess Teh, a sales executive, lodged a police report saying that Ying Ying had gone missing after she left the child outside her car for 10 minutes when she went to pay for her parking ticket near the Bayan Baru market hawker centre. The next day, Teh gave a press conference to say how Ying Ying went missing and asked for help from the public to find her. Teh and Ong were arrested on Sunday at about 1pm when they turned up at the Bayan Lepas police station to give a statement.

"Ong then led police to recover a piece of bone at a cemetery in Paya Terubong and a pair of pyjamas in his car that was parked at the couple's apartment at Bandar Baru Air Itam. Sources said police were investigating Teh’s claim that Ying Ying had drowned in a plastic bathtub, which has since been recovered from the couple’s apartment. The sources added that only Ong was at the apartment when Ying Ying died on Thursday. Teh had found Ying Ying dead when she returned home from work. They said both waited for nightfall before carrying the little girl’s body out of the premises. They added that police were now looking for an oil drum in which Ying Ying’s body was believed to have been placed before it was doused with petrol and burned. Yesterday,

Ong led police to three rivers in Air Itam and Paya Terubong where Ying Ying’s remains were said to have been dumped. A police team searched the three places. At a press conference, Balik Pulau OCPD Supt Mohd Hatta Mohd Zain said the couple had been remanded until July 18 and that police had classified the case as murder. “We consider the case solved with their arrest. Our checks showed that Ong was arrested a few years ago in connection with a fight,” he said. It is understood that Teh met Ong, a former karaoke lounge manager who is currently jobless, about a year ago and they moved in together about three months ago. Teh is in the midst of getting a divorce from her businessman husband Ooi Eng Chew. Ong is separated from his wife and has two children."

I can't believe that a mum like Jess allowed such thing to happen to her own flesh and blood. She should go to the police instead of covering her boyfriend's fault. She must be mad reporting her child was missing. May Ying Ying's soul rest in peace.

Lunch at @tmosphere

We celebrated Juliana's 50th birthday on the 6 July 2007 at Atmosphere Restaurant. We arrived about 11.30am in GM's car. When we arrived at the 18th floor, I was awed with the colourful and well-blended with the surrounding furniture. I'll say the Interior Designer did a great work! As I walked down the stairs, I saw familiar faces, Terrance Labansing (Restaurant Manager) and Donny (ex-Aru Dining). They greeted us and showed us our table. We started off with soft rolls (boy i was so hungry!). GM ordered Lamb Curry, I ordered Tandoori Chicken (set Lunch), Mary Chey ordered Lamb Shank, Pam ordered Fish and Chips, Natalie, Juliana and Stanley ordered Salmon (Set Lunch). I enjoyed my meal. After our lunch, out came the Atmosphere staff with a slice of cake for the Birthday Girl and they sang Happy Birthday to her. How sweet!

Happy Birthday to you, Jue!

Relationship won't last...

OR many years, actress Erra Fazira and actor Hans Isaac denied that they were more than just friends.

Despite all the tell-tale signs including when Hans presented Erra with a RM10,000 Rolex watch on her 33rd birthday last February, the couple kept saying they were just best friends. But as what Fox Mulder of the hit sci-fi TV series, The X-Files, always says — the truth is out there, and the truth finally came out when Hans admitted that they were an item, at least until about two weeks ago. It was reported in a Malay tabloid yesterday that the duo split up because Erra wanted to marry someone else. His revelation might shock most people but for those who have been following the duo’s career, the shock value is not Hans’ revelation but the news that their relationship is over. Erra has not given her side of the story and her personal manager, Syed Badrul Hashim, said she is busy shooting a Hollywood movie, Hidden.

Until she comes out into the open, her fans and the media will continue to speculate about this recent development. It will also reignite speculation whether Hans was the reason why Erra and Yusry ended their marriage. How will this news affect the actress’s waning career? Almost all the movies featuring Erra after her divorce to Yusry KRU, failed to deliver at the box-office, including Pesona Non-Grata and Qabil Khushry Qabil Igam, in which Erra and Hans play a couple. And there are still two more films, starring the duo as a couple, that have not opened in the cinemas — Cuci and Los & Faun. Reporters are going to have a field day with this news, while Erra and Hans’ fans will be hungry for more.

And of course, the media will try and get comments from people close to the duo, especially ex-husband Yusry KRU and Erra’s two best friends, Umie Aida and Nasha Aziz.

Gayana memories...

Mastika, Esther, Joyce, Grace, me & Elena

I grabbed this picture from Joyce's friendster. I think this picture was taken in December 2005. I miss our old days when all of us were in Gayana. Now, all of us work in different companies but we still keep in touch. Mastika is working with Borneo Passages Sdn. Bhd., Esther is working in Labuan, Joyce is working at Sutera Harbour, Grace Koh is working with Popular Management Sdn. Bhd., myself working at Perkasa Hotel Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and Elena continues her studies at UiTM Shah Alam. We cherish our memories while we were working in Gayana Island Resort under the leadership of our fantastic, down to earth the greatest boss, Mr. P. M. Koshy. Currently, I have the privilege working with him again at Perkasa Hotel Holdings Sdn. Bhd. where he is the General Manager.
