Passport Renewal

Yesterday, I went to Immigration Department to renew my passport which expired long time ago (2002)and since there is an urge to travel using a passport, hence my presence at Mini Putrajaya. After sending Sean, I drove straight to Mini Putrajaya at 8.45am. I arrived shortly as traffic was smooth and there was a few parking spaces (surprisingly). Anyhow, I made my way to the said department and yay, it is located on the ground floor (too lazy to ascend any stairs). Woah! The place was crowded with people. I then proceeded to Kaunter 1 (Borang), took the passport renewal form (paid RM1.00) and have to complete the form and attach required documents before getting your number. Done all and now Kaunter 2 (Ambil Nombor).

When you want to renew your passport, these are the required documents:
1. Two passport sized photograph (must be of blue background and must not be of computer printed photograph).
2. Old passport or a police report (in the case of loss)
3. A copy of your IC - Front and back (they do have photocopy machine there but they charge RM1 for a copy of your IC which I think is quite expensive and you better bring your own copy who knows the copier machine kaput)
4. Payment for passport : RM300 (32 pages passport), RM 600 (64 pages)
5. Miscellanous expenses: For photocopy purposes and to buy form (RM1)

It was 9.26am and there I was waiting anxiously for my number to appear on the screen. After 20 minutes of waiting, my turn in fact. Bla bla bla bla...within 1 minute, finger prints taken (computerized and manual), I was asked to wait for my number to be called to make payment. I waited another 10 minutes and I got myself a receipt and on the receipt it says that my passport should be ready at 12pm (if there is no off line interruption). Emm that was about 2 hours of waiting. So I drove back to the city and went to Wisma Merdeka just to kill time. Then, when the time arrived, I drove back to that place and managed to get a parking space (2nd time lucky I think as many friends told me it's impossible to get a parking there). Anyhow, I took another number at Kaunter 2 and then went to Kaunter 12 to submit the receipt with my number attached in the tray provided. Again, waiting is the game in this Department. After 5 minutes of waiting, I got my renewed passport plus my old passport. A smooth transaction by the Immigration Dept. Two thumbs up!
