Dad's 60th Birthday

Dad was born on the 5 October 1948 and this year marks his 60th birthday which falls on a Sunday.
My siblings and I together with our mum, planned a small party for him.
We corresponded each other via email.
We have our guestlist, program, food and drinks.
Our guestlist includes dad's siblings & in law with their families, dad's siblings in law & families, dad's aunty and family, dad's besans and dad's friends.

I asked mum dad's favourite singers.
I even asked my dad's sisters to help me out.
I also googled for the top songs during dad's era.

I downloaded many songs from the 50's, 60's and 70's.
I managed to download a total of 88 songs from artistes such as Engelbert Humperdink, Cliff Richard, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, The Platters, The Beach Boys, ABBA, Bee Gees and many more just to remind him of his youth.

On the eve of the event, we spent the night at our family residence in Penampang.
We managed to attend my cousin's wedding and also went to Andrew's house for Hari Raya.
The next day, our kids woke up really early.
After giving the kids their baths, all of us went downstairs to help up with the preparations.
Our kids engrossed with their Playhouse Disney so it was easier to work without them interrupting.

But now and then Little S being a cheeky little monster of ours started her impish demeanour.
She climbed the stairs up and down without any sense of fear.
She monotonously opens and closes the kitchen door.
When I asked her to stop, she would stare at me with her sorry eyes but soon after continued with her tomfoolery.
How to get mad with her face like this?

My task is to deep fry the chicken wings and prepare the "ulam-ulam" with sambal belacan.
Mum prepares the "ayam masak kicap", "soko (bamboo shoot) and "bittergourd (peria) pickles.
My aunt, Mama Evelyn prepares the "pinasakan Talapia".

Hubby and my other siblings set up the place.
Cleaning the floor, arrange the chairs and tables, setting up the sound system.
My sister helped out in looking after our three rascals.
I love to see everyone "gotong-royong".
Even the birthday boy pun help out.

Almost 1 pm, I prepared my kids and I and put on our attire for the occassion.
Guests started to arrive.
Background music - all his favourite songs.
We had a blast and I am sure dad too.
Since the next day is a working day, we left at 11pm!
