Unreliable Air Asia

I received this email a while ago.

"Dear Sir/Madam,

This has reference to your AirAsia Go Holiday Package booking from Kota Kinabalu to Denpasar Bali. Kindly be informed due to operational requirement effective August 26, 2008 AirAsia will cease flight operating directly from Kota Kinabalu to Denpasar Bali. . Firstly, we would like to humbly apologies for the inconvenience cause and we believe plan have been made and you looking forward for your holiday. We wish only to make amends and as per management instruction, AirAsia Go Holiday is pleased to offer the following alternatives:

  • Credit Shell for flight (Credit amount is to be redeemed within 3 months for travelling date according to AirAsia flight schedule availability). The amount is transferable and applicable to all AirAsia destination except AirAsia X. Your hotel booking will be remained.
  • Full refund for both flight and hotel.

Kindly revert your option for our further action. Please do not hesitate to contact Go Team member at 603 8775 4141 or email ask goholiday@airasia.com should you have further inquiry. Once again, we apologise for the inconvenience cause. Thank you for your support and we hope to be able to serve you in the next opportunity."

Unbelievable! I was dumbfounded when I receive this. Hubby and I were so looking forward for this holiday in Bali but Air Asia chose to cancel due to "Operation Requirement" reason (which I find unacceptable). I am angry, frustrated and annoyed. Totally unreliable. I replied to them the minute after I got their email. You wouldn't want to know what I wrote to them.

Hi Sharon...guess with these no frills kind of flights, one can never be sure until in the air..
Regret about your holiday...maybe MAS or SIA have something special on?
Anyway, hope you do get to Bali and have fun, best regards, Lee.

thank you all for the word of comfort. I think most of my friends and relatives also affected. But some of them have yet to receive the "bad news" from AirAsia.

I am still considering whether I should go ahead and write a letter to the hotline. But indirectly, AirAsia has turned off many people already. They should buck up on their decisions to ave new routes rather than having it and eventually cancel after just a few months of operating the new route. I read in the papers a few days back that AirAsia was told not to publish new routes until their permit or authorization has been approved. If Air Asia continues to operate like this, sooner or later more loyal customers will deviate to a more reliable airlines. I think MAS will benefit AirAsia's downfall. Lets just hope MAS will not do the same.

Omg.. really unbelievable.. we have to arrange schedule and book the flight a century ahead then lastly what we get is a cancelled flight? Ridiculous!!! I think it's safer to book MAS then..
